Nico Nico Douga (or Nico Nico Video), a streaming video site based in Japan and highly popular amongst its anime fanbase, demonstrates this with rather engrossing and addictive results.

Texhnolyze continues in its second volume, covering episodes five through eight, and slowly gives its viewers a clearer picture of the true undercurrents pulling the strings in Lukuss, as well as how Ichise begins to come into play amidst its warring factions. Still somehow both utterly breathtaking and horrifying at once, Texhnolyze remains a difficult watch, determined to explore the nuances of despair and pain as viscerally as it can--but is ultimately rewarding to those willing to let themselves be captured in its dark world.

From much of the team that brought Serial Experiments Lain into fruition, Texhnolyze is a dark, surreal, disturbing look into the dystopia of Lukuss--an underground city divided amongst itself due to the process of Tehxnolyzation, or the substitution of lost limbs with artificial appendages. In the first volume, we are introduced to the story of Ichise, a boxer faced with the loss of both his right arm and left leg, and how he slowly begins to be dragged into the conflict amongst the warring factions of the city.

For those needing a refresher with Moon Phase, these episodes start up after Hazuki has been rescued by supernatural photographer Kouhei, goes to live with his family, gets nabbed by Count Kinkel and returned. There's more to it than that, but anything else would lead into spoiler territory. It sounds exciting, but it isn't. In Phase 3, the mundane threatens to eclipse what is technically a beautiful series.

Norwalk, CT, July 9, 2007: The New York Anime Festival (NYAF) today announced it will host the North American Premiere of the anime film CATBLUE Dynamite at its inaugural event this December in New York City. CATBLUE Dynamite, set in the 1970s, is the story of a girl named Blue who gets mixed up with the mob over a missing Frank Sinatra album. But while going up against an army of hitmen might make a normal woman shake, Blue's anything but normal. Blue has all the agility and finesse (and ears and a tail) of a cat, and when her reflexes alone aren't enough, she can also count on an undead sidekick.
